UNESCO Culture Conventions
UNESCO leads in the provision of international standard setting instruments for the protection of culture, heritage, cultural properties, etc. The Culture Committee's Conventions Working Group looks at issues relating to the UK's position on these Conventions.

Background
UNESCO provides a central forum for coordinating the ethical, normative and intellectual issues of our time, fostering multidisciplinary exchange and mutual understanding, working towards universal agreements on these issues, defining benchmarks and mobilizing international opinion. Our Work in this Field
The Culture Committee Conventions Working Group looks at a range of issues, inter alia, the impacts of UK ratification of conventions, whether the UK might ratify existing conventions, monitoring and enforcement of existing conventions.
In addition to the Culture Committee's focus on World Heritage (4), the Conventions Working Group is presently focused on (3) and (6)
