Local Learning, Global Citizenship – UK UNESCO Associated Schools Annual Conference 2010

28 June 2010

Venue: Missenden Abbey Conference Centre, Buckinghamshire, HP16 0BD

In partnership with the Royal Geographical Society with IBG and Buckinghamshire County Council.

Preparing our students for life in an increasingly complex world requires compelling learning experiences that challenge perceptions and stimulate curiosity. Curriculum reforms across the UK have put the global dimension and skills for the 21st century firmly on the agenda. The 2010 annual conference for UNESCO Associated Schools in the UK will be an opportunity to get behind the headlines and develop concrete ideas for how you can meet your curriculum requirements and take forward local learning and global citizenship in your school.

Join us for a day exploring ways we can bring the world into our classrooms:

  • Get inspired by Sir Keith Ajegbo, author of the 2007 diversity and citizenship curriculum review
  • Take part in hands-on workshops
  • Share your experiences with colleagues
  • Learn from practical examples of good practice
  • Walk away with ‘ready-to-go’ ideas and resources

Space is limited, so book your place now! The event is free and open to all primary and secondary schools in the UK. Teachers from members of UNESCO Associated Schools can apply for travel expense cover.

To register for this event, please download a registration form from the documents sidebar. Completed registration forms should be returned to abreivik [at] unesco.org.uk no later than 11 June 2010.
