Hay Festival 2009

UNESCO will be at this year’s Hay Festival partnering on a day of debates centred around Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water and the challenges facing our planet.

Speakers

  • Chair: John Vidal, Environmental Editor, The Guardian

The situation facing our planet will not be solved through a one-size-fits-all approach. This series of conversations addresses global change, cultural imagination, sustainable practice and the fusion of indigenous and traditional cultures and progressive science.

The Forum will be introduced by Walter Erdelen, Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences UNESCO:

Fresh perspectives emerging from the confluence of ideas of artists, policymakers, cultural workers and academics will give participants the opportunity to embrace new ideas and open their minds to new paradigms in thinking.

The debates will be chaired by John Vidal, Environment Editor of the Guardian.
