The Public Service Media Event 2009 aims to consider new public service media formats, particularly video on demand, mobile media, video and audio podcasts, interactive activities, e-learning content, digital cinema, social media and self-publishing platforms.

Public Service Media is media which fulfils the same public purposes as public service broadcasting, but uses digital media and platforms including the Internet instead of broadcast television or radio. It is particularly relevant to youth audiences.
