World Press Freedom Day 2009

This year’s debate will see speakers debating the motion “Governments at war are winning the battle of controlling the international media”.

Each year the UK National Commission for UNESCO and the Press Freedom Network organise events in London and Cardiff to mark World Press Freedom Day (3 May).

At the opening of the debate, Annabel Symington the winner of the 2009 World Press Freedom Day Student Journalism Competition will be presented with her award.
