Exchange with US Ambassador
The UK National Commission for UNESCO (UKNC) met with the US Ambassador to UNESCO on 11 January in London to discuss each other’s work and to explore ways in which the US and the UK might further collaborate on UNESCO issues. The meeting, between UKNC Chairman Professor John Morgan, Deputy Chair Tim Williams, Ambassador Killion and the US Deputy Chief of Mission, Kathleen Kavalec, proved to be an interesting and productive exchange.
The wider value of UNESCO programmes in the UK and US was discussed, including how these programmes may best engage with the educational, scientific and cultural communities. The comparative structures and priorities of the US and UK National Commissions was also covered.
