Four of the 2009 UNESCO-L'Oreal International Fellowships winners to study at UK institutions
Four out of this year’s fifteen UNESCO-L’Oréal International Fellowships winners will use their awards to undertake research outside their home country at UK institutions.
Jingyi Shi, postdoctoral research assistant from China has chosen to spend the period of her fellowship at the Institute of Cancer Research researching the genetics of acute myeloid leukaemia.
Ishrat Bano, PhD student from Paksitan will undertake her fellowship project at University of Cambridge where she will receive training in the synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles adapted to drug delivery.
Mareike Posner, PhD student from Germany has chosen to undertake her fellowship project at University of Bath focusing on the structure and function of multi-enzyme complexes.
Cecilia Gonzales Marin, PhD student from Peru will undertake her fellowship project at Queen Mary's School of Medicine and Dentistry completing a PhD in oral microbiology.
The beneficiaries received their fellowships at an awards ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris in March.
