UK National Commission launches Impact Report series
Strengthening the Education for All Global Monitoring Report (GMR), assisting with the establishment and promotion of Wales’ first new style UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the launch of an online inventory of Scotland’s Intangible Cultural Heritage and helping journalists from developing countries explain issues of climate change in locally relevant ways – these are just some of the examples of the UK National Commission for UNESCO’s (UKNC) work highlighted in the organisation’s 2009-10 Impact Report series.
The three reports in this series provide compelling examples of how the UKNC is helping to further UNESCO’s mission in the building of peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue.
The first report showcases 15 examples of the UKNC’s work in education, sciences, culture and communication and how these projects have had an ongoing impact across the UK and beyond. This report is complemented by the Annual Summary of the Work of the Cymru-Wales Committee and the UKNC in Scotland Impact Report, which go into greater detail on the impressive work of the UKNC in Scotland and Wales.
