Working Group for Increased Cooperation Among UNESCO Intergovernmental and International Scientific Programmes in the UK
Chair: Rotating
The Working Group for Increased Cooperation Among UNESCO Intergovernmental/International Scientific Programmes (ISPs) in the UK brings together the Chairs of each of the four ISP National Committees in the UK*. The Group was formed in 2007 in response to the need to adopt a more holistic approach to the ISPs, both in the UK and globally.
The Group meets regularly to share information, feedback and discourse on key ISP activities and priorities. It identifies opportunities for shared action, including raising the visibility of and strengthening UK participation in the programmes. It also provides coordinated input on relevant policy issues to the UK National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO globally and UK Government.

* The UNESCO Intergovernmental/International Scientific Programme (ISP) National Committees ensure the presence of UNESCO's Intergovernmental / International Scientific Programmes on a national level, coordinating UK input to programmes and promoting UK awareness of programme activities. The four National Committees established in the UK are the: UK IOC (Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission) National Committee; UK IHP (International Hydrological Programme) National Committee; UK MAB (Man and the Biosphere Programme) National Committee; and IGCP (International Geosciences Programme) National Committee. These four National Committee are independent of, but work closely with, the UK National Commission for UNESCO.
